I have accepted an offer to study a doctorate degree at Peking University, and will get the formal admission notice in a couple of weeks. Is it possible to convert my current Work Visa to a Student Visa from within China (Beijing)? Or will I have to first leave China and then apply for the Student Visa from my home country (Australia)? I would prefer to do it in Beijing if possible as I have booked my flight home quite late and plan to do some travelling when I go home so I won't be staying very long in one city in Australia.
