Gaming in China and VPNs

In short, no.

In long, given how VPNs work - making you connect to a server physically further away in order to use unblocked internet - the ping and connection speed is naturally going to be worse. I've found with express lately that speeds have been either horrid or inconsistent on almost every server, but if you can find a VPN service with decent and stable Hong Kong, Taiwan or Japan-based servers, you shouldn't suffer too badly.

For reference's sake, though, I've never been able to get ping under 100ms when using a VPN (primarily Hong Kong). Given how unstable the VPN is, the ping fluctuates to unplayable levels. I've tried games of rocket league and learned the hard way.
