HSK mock exam app [New]

Recommended Posts

fabiothebest

There is a new app for Android and iOS that contains mock exams for HSK and YCT. It is from Hanban itself. Apparently it isn't free, but not expensive either, so some of you may want to try it. From now until June 30th 2019, HSK mock exams cost 20 yuan and YCT mock exams 10 yuan. If you have any questions you can write to: [email protected] .

You can find the app on the iOS App Store or Google Play Store, anyway this is the official website: http://www.hsktestapp.com/ .

It installs fine, but tells you it wants money if you want to see any sample exams.  It won't even tell you how much unless you register with them.  Ugh, I hate that kind of crap.  Uninstalled.  😦

I didn't try it yet, because I already paid for mock exams (the BLCU book) and I don't need more for now I guess, but still I wanted to share this app with you. This app claims to have the same format and content of a real HSK (or YCT) test. They take into account also the time you have for each part during the exam. As I wrote in my first post, the app isn't free and I also mentioned the cost. The app is new and could have a better UI/UX, but what I can say is: don't judge a book by its cover. If anyone actually tries the app can report back his experience, else it's useless to post a negative review based on nothing.

This is also pretty sloppy... despite selecting English for the UI on first running.

Yeah. The first button on the left is for updating, but at least I didn't find a new version in the app store, so the following time I just selected the second one for ingroing the update :) Anyway these things don't put me off. I just hope the mock tests are fine if I ever want to try them.

It's worth noting that the new 真题 (real exam papers) book came out a month or two ago. It has 10 exam papers from 2018.

example: http://product.dangdang.com/25341872.html

These apps with mock exams for HSK are blowing up recently and they all seem to be worse bang-for-your-buck than the physical version.

Thanks for the link. (Incidentally level 5 is ¥61 on Jing Dong and ¥79 on DangDang)

I installed an app before on HSK EXAMS (Hello HSK I think) but I found too many bells and whistles like flash cards, sharing scores, hsk lists (which are simple to find). I prefer looking at paper anyway, which may or may not be a good thing given the exam is online. I think a lot of apps are like a training course for HSK rather than mock exams itself.

I didn't install the app that @fabiothebest mentions above (but thanks for the link though Fabio) due to it requiring users to register first. I dislike that too. I'd like to just play around with it first before I decide to buy.

I agree that many HSK apps are often much more than mock exams, but still it can be useful to learn vocabulary using SRS methods. I've found some online apps that estimate your HSK level real quick, even if they tend to be only about vocabulary and not grammar/reading sentences/spoken language... I've tested HSKCheck (http://www.wumaocorp.com/hskcheck/quiz/quick-test) and HSKLevel (http://www.hsklevel.com), they tend to be quite accurate for me (HSK 4).
