Would like to use some of these example sentences (in blue) from GF and LAC as flashcards, but these particular example sentences don't have a "+" to do so like other dictionaries.

Just searched another word randomly “逸”. There are no "+" with these example sentences either. Is this a peculiarity with the GF dictionary example sentences? Do I have some option left unchecked somewhere?

We don't offer a flashcard button for those because they don't have any English translations and so you'd have to fill in pretty much the whole thing yourself. But if you highlight the whole sentence (tap on the first character and long-press the |-> button to expand the selection to the whole thing) and then tap on the + button, it should offer to create a custom flashcard and let you fill in your own English on that screen.

I don't have + button next to example sentences at all.. How do you get this? I would love to be able to create a flashcard from a sampler sentence with a single click!

I'm also very interested in creating flashcards with example sentences from the Cantonese dictionary ABY. Something strange happens with the jyutping though: pronunciation gets converted into... Korean script. Any idea why this is happening? This is an example sentence from the entry 拖板 and created with the + method above:

Ah, that’s a bug - will investigate for our next update, thanks.

As a temporary workaround, if you go into Organize Cards, navigate to the category with your examples, tap Edit, Batch, and tap “Add Cantonese Readings” (and check “overwrite existing” before you do), that should give you usable Cantonese readings for those.

Could you make the + icon for those sentences make cloze deletion sentence flashcards instead of Chinese ↔ English flashcards?

We don’t currently support cloze flashcards within Pleco - if you’re on Android you can add examples to your AnkiDroid database as clozes, though.

We are adding cloze support in our 4.0 update, but it’s tied to the word rather than the sentence - in the current design, you can specifically link a sentence to a word or have the system randomly pick an example (from a pool you’ve made or from all available examples).

Will that include the using sentences without English defs, like the OP brought up?
