Learn Chinese in China

  • Why you should look around

Since 2003, Chinese-forums.com has been helping people learn Chinese faster and get to China sooner. Our members can recommend beginner textbooks, help you out with obscure classical vocabulary, and tell you where to get the best street food in Xi'an. And we're friendly about it too.

Have a look at what's going on, or search for something specific. We hope you'll join us.

I created a tool to split Chinese words and help us increase our vocabulary.

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I created a tool to split Chinese words automatically and help us memorize the vocabulary. It looks like this:

The tool can detect the Chinese words automatically, and mark the words with different colors: red color means we never see the word before, blue color means we have met the word before but haven't "mastered" that word yet, and no color means we have mastered that word. We can select any texts on the page to get the translation, and then click the buttons under the translation to add the word to our vocabulary.

I also created a review functionality. Basically, we can select some words from our vocabulary and then the tool will generate some sentences with "gaps", and we need to a correct word to complete the gaps:

The sentences are generated from English-Chinese dictionaries, so the words seen in the sentences are very "High-Frequency" daily used words.

I am still trying to add a importing functionality which can let us import any texts easily. But if you have some better ideas to make it easier to use, please feel free to let me know.

The tool is "www.vocabsplitter.com" .

Thanks a lot!
