madizi Posted August 29, 2005 at 02:58 PM Report Share Posted August 29, 2005 at 02:58 PM Here is Besta's homepage: http://www.besta.com.tw/ I only know three of Besta's translators and prices in NT$ (New Taiwanese $): CD 96: costs 4680 NT$ and has 900.000 words CD 316 pro: costs 5990 NT$ and has 1.000.000 words CD 816 pro: costs 7288 NT$ and has 1.000.000. It's almost the same as CD 316, except that it has color display. The second and the third models also have pen for writing on screen, a lot of different dictionaries (Ch-En, En-Ch, En-En, Guoyu Cidian, Ch-Jap-Kor-En,...). And a lot of other functions for learning, time management,....... Greetings, Ma
trusmis Posted August 29, 2005 at 09:04 PM Report Share Posted August 29, 2005 at 09:04 PM CD 316 pro seems perfect. I'm also interested in getting an electronic dictionary. Soon I'll go to Taiwan, so I think that I'll buy one of these. Any other suggestion? I'm interested in CH-EN EN-CH JA-EN EN-JA

parasite888 Posted February 16, 2010 at 06:45 PM Report Share Posted February 16, 2010 at 06:45 PM ACtually I got a Besta dictionary from China. It is a CD810. Batteries die within 3 hrs so if you plan to study or use it in class, make sure you are near an electrical outlet or else you will have to find a dictionary to use. Also, my dictionary froze a couple of times, which is also a pain because you always have to reset it. I don't bother even setting the time because I have to set it very frequently. I bought it at a small electronic store and they told me that I could download dictionaries for multiple languages. I have yet to find it...the website is in Chinese and my Chinese is not good enough to find it, so I'll have to find someone who knows enough Chinese to help me translate and download the files. I contacted USA Besta and they told me that they can't do much with downloading since my version was from China. They also suggested that I find someone to translate for me. Also I realized (which the sales person did not tell me) that my dictionary is focused on learning English not Chinese. Bottom line - I'm not impressed, especially it cost me 1500 rmb! doraemon Posted February 19, 2010 at 09:42 AM Report Share Posted February 19, 2010 at 09:42 AM Whatever you do, do not buy the CD900 dictionary. I bought mine in Beijing less one and a half years ago and even though it looks pretty flashy with colour and contains a lot of dictionaries and other functions like MP3 and stuff, it's pretty bad quality (for me at least). My screen just suddenly blacked out two weeks ago so now whenever you flip the lid open past 70-80 degrees, you can't see anything. It's basically useless now. Also, when I was buying the CD900 the shop assistant told me it had the best translator at that time. Although I didn't really care about the translator, I still experimented with it out of curiosity and realised it was really bad (translation was too literal), nothing like what the shop assistant had described.
