laoban33 Posted March 15, 2019 at 09:42 AM Report Share Posted March 15, 2019 at 09:42 AM Hi, I got accepted to intern in a company in Shanghai for 6 months. From what I saw I can get a visa X (student) and fully work. I was planning to register to language courses in China in order to get my JW201/202 and admission letter. However, my company told me that I must get an internship agreement, otherwise it is not legal. Is it the case? Because from what I saw online many people did not need to get an internship agreement from a university. Thanks
roddy Posted March 15, 2019 at 09:56 AM Report Share Posted March 15, 2019 at 09:56 AM Internships in China are a mess. There's no real visa category for them. The only reliable route I'm aware of is to be on a university course that requires (or at least allows) a relevant internship, get agreement from university and PSB, then do the internship. It sound like this is what the company wants you to do (which is a good sign, as they're doing things properly, but a bad sign, as you want the cheapest course possible, not a university course). Doing this with a private school - don't know if that's possible.
laoban33 Posted March 15, 2019 at 10:13 AM Author Report Share Posted March 15, 2019 at 10:13 AM Yes exactly, i was thinking about registering for a one year program in China that requires an internship, but I haven't found a school that does that. Don't you think an internship agreement from my home university (in Europe) would not be enough? Because I had quite some friends that only needed this. However, the company seemed quite sure that I need the agreement coming from a Chinise university. Such a struggle haha
roddy Posted March 15, 2019 at 10:21 AM Report Share Posted March 15, 2019 at 10:21 AM What's necessary will vary across cities. Different companies might have different interpretations of the rules. As you say, a struggle.
