This works so well, I just tried it while watching the news, not only does it block subtitles, you can stretch it out so it covers all the annoying scrolling stock market info too, so much easier to focus. thanks for sharing

I don't know why I didn't come up with that idea earlier. I was always using some other window to cover up the subtitles. :D

How about Android???🤔🤔🤔

I only made one small Android app before, so I'm not very familiar with that. It seems to be quite the hassle to make an app stay on top of others.

Not sure about Android, but on iOS there are restrictions on apps so they can't take over other apps screens.  I imagine a similar thing will exist on Android as it's ripe for abuse.

Edit: It seems Android might allow it, but Google is cracking down on apps that use it and they'd like to just get rid of it.

It now lives here!

Make the source public and I'll submit a pull request with a version for macOS.

It seems that on my phone, there is a category in the permissions section about allowing apps to display on top of other apps, but I don't know much about the current politics of future Android functionality...

There you go. Beware of bad code, I hacked the app together in like 5 minutes. :D

I added a transparent version that should be less intrusive.

Thank you for making this application!

How do you use the transparent version? I downloaded the .net framework, but it just displays a slightly dark transparent bar without the blur.

The black version works no problem.

I'm using a windows 7 computer.

I updated the transparent version. It doesn't stay on top anymore, so watching in full screen isn't possible right now. Turns out transparency and blur are hard to achieve :D

But now the blur is much stronger, you really can't read anything anymore.
