mungouk Posted August 26, 2019 at 11:05 AM Report Posted August 26, 2019 at 11:05 AM @Anonymoose9 where did you see it? The text at bottom right is Vietnamese but the rest is anyone's guess. Maybe stylised calligraphy in Tibetan, Balinese or some other SE Asian script? Quote
New Members Anonymoose9 Posted August 26, 2019 at 11:12 AM Author New Members Report Posted August 26, 2019 at 11:12 AM We were in a junk shop in Vietnam and my 5 year old son liked the writing so I bought it for a few dollars. I thought the red stamps looked like Chinese like characters. The other script I cant figure out. Some of the characters or letters do indeed seem to match up with Tibetan. Quote
Jim Posted August 26, 2019 at 01:02 PM Report Posted August 26, 2019 at 01:02 PM I wonder if it's some sort of Daoist talisman? The yellow paper and the seals sort of give it the look. Definitely is a Tibetan look to a couple of the letters but overall I'd say it isn't, maybe some Devanagari-based script though? 1 Quote
mungouk Posted August 26, 2019 at 01:43 PM Report Posted August 26, 2019 at 01:43 PM It's not Devanagari, I'm 99% sure that I would recognise. The thing at top-right looks like some kind of Buddhist yantra, like you might see in a Thai sacred tattoo, but there seem to be several different writing systems here. Some of it looks a bit like Khmer. The script in the heavy red box at the top could be Chinese seal script, but I doubt the rest is Chinese. 1 Quote
