code for finding words you look up repeatedly in Pleco

Recommended Posts

I wrote some Python code that searches through your Pleco history for words you look up repeatedly. Find the GitHub repo here.

Example use case:

Let's say you encounter the word 馘 (guó, to cut off the left ear of someone you've slain) while reading a short story. You gleefully share your discovery on the word of the day thread, but you don't bother memorizing it because you have no plans to go into the bounty hunting business.

Years later, you happen to encounter 馘 again (you should probably stop reading so many grisly 武侠 novels). You don't remember that you've seen it previously, but this code notifies you that you have. You decide to memorize it, having spared yourself the mortifying embarrassment of posting it to the word of the day thread again.

Whilst taking the mick out of @roddy is a commendable endeavour, writing Python code especially seems to be taking it a bit far :D

I wish pleco had a feature that showed the amount of times you have looked at the page for a word.
