Thematic components of characters

I have not paid too much attention to components and radicals so far, so this may be newbie question:

Do you know of a good list of components or radicals that indicate a certain "theme" e.g. water-related 氵 in 江 or 清潔 or, for instance, food-/plant-related ⺾ in  蔬菜?

Do you believe learning vocabulary grouped in such themes is useful?

I'm afraid its not a modern resource, but it might be interesting to check out anyway - the first thing that popped into my head was 急就章, an old Han dynasty character primer that features long lists of characters which are put together by category, eg types of animal, with 马牛鱼 etc components, plants and flowers with 艹, its pretty interesting but you can see why its not a popular way to study - becomes very confusing very quickly

I was thinking a lot about "exclamative particles" recently (啊,哦,哈,哇 etc) for the same reason — they almost all have the 口 component on the left, which is a useful hint.

It turns out there's a nice list of them on Wikipedia:
