alantin Posted February 3, 2022 at 07:06 PM Report Share Posted February 3, 2022 at 07:06 PM I didn't practice handwriting for a while, but I worked it into my goals for this year and have been practicing again for a bit over a month now. Here is a second sample copying the same text as before. I think it's looking better than before. I'll show it to a couple of tutors later and get some feedback. Some characters have quite bad balance, like 起, but on the other hand I'm quite happy with others, like my 能 and 前.
黄有光 Posted March 22, 2022 at 09:04 PM Author Report Share Posted March 22, 2022 at 09:04 PM A brief nonsense sentence I wrote today. Not terribly happy with 所、还、地。 But I am happy with 清楚、有、较。

It has been used in the example below to abbreviate the second 明 in "你明明知道".

黄有光 Posted March 30, 2022 at 05:08 PM Author Report Share Posted March 30, 2022 at 05:08 PM I wrote this quickly, so it is a bit sloppy. Still, I'm fairly pleased with it. Thoughts @Publius ?
Publius Posted March 30, 2022 at 07:21 PM Report Share Posted March 30, 2022 at 07:21 PM There's certainly ample room to improve. But Rome wasn't built in a day. Find a good copybook. Try to appreciate it first. Develop a sense of what makes a good piece look good. And another thing: That 我 is without doubt legit. But I suspect many people will have a hard time recognizing it. You might want to try these:

黄有光 Posted March 31, 2022 at 10:53 AM Author Report Share Posted March 31, 2022 at 10:53 AM @Publius How do you feel about the two forms in the middle? Are they acceptable? My concern with the fourth form is that it has a potential to look very sloppy, very easily (i.e. it is "fragile" -- it must be written carefully and there is little room for error, outside of which it begins to look messy and illegible). Also, could you clarify the stroke order of the fourth form?

But if you feel it's too fragile, don't use it. Simple.
