Hope everyone is doing great

I start studying Chinese language in XJTU online since almost 3 weeks and I am facing an issue in in TONES listing, Sometimes when I hear a word I can't tell which one out of the 4 tones in the activities during the class often I score the half or below, however I have absolutely no problem in reading them

Is it an ordinary problem by the days it will solved or there's some techniques to use or some videos to improve the listening problem

Thank you for your time

almost 3 weeks

Almost 3 weeks....well I am in it for 2 years now and I have done tons of listening. It is sometimes still really hard at times. But, it gets better.

I can only recommend listening a lot and ideally repeatedly listen to the same audio again and again.

Allset Learning have quite a few resources to help with listening and identifying tones, in their Chinese Pronunciation Wiki.

https://resources.allsetlearning.com/chinese/pronunciation/

https://resources.allsetlearning.com/chinese/pronunciation/Tone_pairs

this interactive chart has native-speaker audio for all pinyin sounds: https://resources.allsetlearning.com/chinese/pronunciation/Pinyin_chart

also

https://www.sinosplice.com/learn-chinese/tone-pair-drills

Wordswing, co-founded by Olle Linge of HackingChinese.com also has a tones course and quiz you can take.

It does get easier with practice of course!  Good luck.

3 weeks is not long.

Keep practicing with apps and if possible native speakers. I used to put mandarin on the radio when driving to work - not for comprehension but to get used to the sounds, tones and rhythm. I would sort of drift in and out of concentrating on the voices.

Getting used to listening to tones takes time.
