He says “It was difficult for uncle to maintain his beard at that time” What does that mean?? Does it mean he had feelings for her? Or was she just that frustrating? Please help! In English, "beard" is a common gay slang term for a gay man's opposite-gender companion who helps him hide his sexuality, but I'm not sure if it's used that way in Chinese too.
