Intensive Chinese programs for ABCs

What are some good intensive Chinese language programs in China/Taiwan for huaqiao? I'm an American-born Chinese: pronunciation is not a problem, but my ability to read/write and scope of vocabulary is lacking.

I'm looking to study Chinese for a half year (Spring of 2007) following my graduation from college. I heard that ICLP at Taida has many overseas Chinese enrolled, but that program (according to its website) only accepts new students in the Fall. Any experience with any others?

I don't know if there are special intensive programs for ABCs, although, I've heard that there is a school for people of Chinese decent, although from what I understood that wasn't particularly intensive so much as it was free. (I barely spoke Chinese myself when I was told about this so I didn't really get all of the details).

Most of the intensive programs seem to give preference to people who study for a full year, but the IUP does allow some people to come for semesters. Definitely incquire with the ICLP. You'll also have to ask them about the application deadline.

I know there are lots of other people who will want to recommend programs, so I'll stop at that, but in case you want to have a look, here is a List of Universities Accepting Foreign Students. And remember, there is already a ton of comments on various programs in these forums if you don't find a school within your particular criterion.
