well, just wanna know what's the standard of living in china's major cities. how much is an average income for the middle class individual? is 400 euro a month sufficient?

Not in Hong Kong. A Filipino domestic helper in HK earns about HKD3,270 (~ 340 euro) a month (but she would live in her employer's home). These helpers are far from middle class.

400euro/month is about the average income level in Guangzhou. You cannot do a whole lot with it, but I believe it is sufficient for normal expenses. Roddy and others can tell you about Beijing and other places.

But these "per capita" things do not always show the true picture.

Shanghai was built to impress and they received much more attention from the central government, so they might have more skyscrapers. but the per capita income there is about the same as Guangzhou's. Looks can be deceiving! Get to know Guangzhou more, it's an exciting city! Plus, you haven't been to that many places in Guangzhou either, give her one more chance
