Here's a thread for that oft-asked question...

Here's a list of common Chinese given names. If you want a Chinese name, you can do it the Chinese way of choosing non-Chinese names, and pick one that looks good to you (throw darts?).

Here's a bunch of "accepted" transliterations. These are the way that they are found transliterated into Chinese in the Bible (very popular source of names in the West), often based on an original Greek or Hebrew pronunciation rather than a modern Western equivalent:

You know what's funny?

I have three male cousins in Taiwan. They each picked Western names. We got two Andrews and one Bruce. They didn't make it down the list very far!

The females picked out Jenny and Susan, thus proving again that men are lazier?

My cousins on the mainland haven't bothered picking out Western names.
