Looking for "Advanced Chinese Reader" by John DeFr

Hello all,

If anybody knows where to obtain this book or knows or someone who might want to sell this book, please let me know. I am trying to obtain this "old" book for a professor friend of mine who needs it.

Even though I have advised him to look for more modern books, he insists that that is the book he needs and wants.

Thanks in advance for any of your information or responses.

regards

Beijingbooty, thanks so much for the suggestions but I have already done that for my friend. Trust me when I tell you that they do not have it because the book is out of print. To complicate matters there are many versions of the same book which may be available but are not the appropriate one.

For example: The Advanced Reader by John DeFrancis comes in the following formats: 1) Advanced Character Text which is nothing more than the Chinese version of the 2)Advance Chinese textbook (this is in Pinyin or Romanized format) and finally there is the 3) Advance Chinese Reader (which is the one I am looking for my friend.)This one is more character learning (traditional chinese) at the advanced level!

Now I hope you understand why this is so confusing!

Thanks again. And of course if you do find the "Advance Chinese Reader" book by John DeFrancis anyplace, do let me know so that I can notify my friend.

Regards

I just wanted to add the John DeFrancis page as a sort of information to show the various books he published:

or simply here is a listing of some of these books:

In addition if anyone has any of the following tapes (casettes) let me know!

Cassettes are the standard cassette variety, C-60 or C-90 depending on the length of the original master recording.

I contacted Language Services at Seton Hall University but the prices for these casettes, for such old books are quite high.

This is what I found out.
