BanZhiYun Posted May 9, 2016 at 10:18 PM Author Report Share Posted May 9, 2016 at 10:18 PM Tbh, what I find a little bit more interesting is some ommitions in pinyin, when the sound is still there. e.g. we write "bo po mo fo" but the actual sound is "buo puo muo fuo", there is basically no pure "o" sound in Mandaring (vowel diagram #7). Another example would be the ommition of "e" in "uei" after consonats, e.g. we write "dui, hui, kui", but the real pronunciation is "duei, huei, kuei".
