kayro Posted June 19, 2011 at 05:06 PM Report Share Posted June 19, 2011 at 05:06 PM As a poor student I am wondering if anyone knows any places in Beijing particularly well-known for selling.. uh.. fake books? Trying to get copies of "Lonely Planet" or "Rough Guide"... I've seen them being sold everywhere in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam when I was traveling, havent really seen them in Beijing though.. amandagmu Posted June 20, 2011 at 12:48 AM Report Share Posted June 20, 2011 at 12:48 AM hmmm.... not really sure. I know the real ones are sold at The Bookworm $$$$ but they do have a library-cafe where you can sit and have a look for as long as you please. The reason you probably don't see them in Beijing is that I would bet 99% are on the internet. You just need to find the pdf and/or bittorrent. To get a paper copy just save it on the USB key and take it to the local photocopy person at any corner.

roddy Posted June 20, 2011 at 04:57 AM Report Share Posted June 20, 2011 at 04:57 AM Never saw any while I was living in Beijing, and that inclines me to think they don't exist. Assuming you're looking for the China / Beijing one, stick a note up in a few hostels offering to buy one from tourists on their way home. Hofmann Posted June 20, 2011 at 09:40 AM Report Share Posted June 20, 2011 at 09:40 AM Because I didn't know about that book, I thought the Chinese might have moved from pirating towns to pirating planets.
skylee Posted June 20, 2011 at 11:15 AM Report Share Posted June 20, 2011 at 11:15 AM Personally I prefer real books. Either buy them or borrow them from the library. I have travelled with Lonely Planet/Rough Guide books from the library many times. Brian US Posted June 20, 2011 at 02:48 PM Report Share Posted June 20, 2011 at 02:48 PM amandagmu said it best with just taking a digital copy to an office/printing shop. My friend had a ~300 page novel printed for 20 kuai.
