Demian Posted June 3, 2013 at 02:56 AM Report Share Posted June 3, 2013 at 02:56 AM I tried Quick Cangjie yesterday. I am using Fedora 18 (XFCE, 64-bit), and I am using iBus Cangjie 1.0. After I had played with it for a while, I couldn't stop thinking why Quick exists in the first place. It is slower than Cangjie and more inefficient than even Pinyin. It is because you have to stop and pick a character every time you input a character. Here is a sample sentence in Cangjie, Quick and Pinyin: Cangjie: 誰是這本書的作家? yrog amyo yymr dm lga hapi oos jmso Quick: 誰是這本的作家? yg_6 ao1 yr_5 dm1 hi9 os4 jo2 ( _ = SPACE) Pinyin 谁是这本书的作家? shei shi zhe-ben-shu de zuo-jia I fly with Cangjie. With Pinyin, it's a ride in a public bus. But with Quick, I come to crawling. I can't imagine someone using Quick as their primary input method as it doesn't make sense to me. Please correct me if I am wrong, and suggest any advantages of using Quick. Thank you!
Koxinga Posted June 3, 2013 at 09:22 AM Report Share Posted June 3, 2013 at 09:22 AM suggest any advantages of using Quick Probably there aren't any for you since you already know Cangjie. It's easier to learn and use in the beginning. If one doesn't know the keyboard positions of all the shapes, it's not necessary to use the cheat sheet as much (only for two strokes instead of up to five). It's also more error forgiving. Takeshi Posted June 14, 2013 at 03:10 AM Report Share Posted June 14, 2013 at 03:10 AM It boggles my mind how people find it easier to remember the quick cangjie numbers of characters than to simply learn real cangjie itself, but that seems to be it; people who don't know cangjie can use it to type.
