I had no idea you could do this. I tried doing it, and it does seem a bit extra work. I'm thinking it may be good to use Pleco for overall vocabulary, and anki for sentences. Although I use skritter/pleco currently.

Fair enough, although it seems like the same amount of work to me. You write the sentence and create the card, it even gives you the traditional and simplified version of what you wrote, all you have to do is add the English definition. I tried it out just now, to make sure it works the way I remember, and it took me seconds to make a new card, so I'm not sure how it differs from Anki. There might be one more button press involved I guess, otherwise the only extra work comes in assigning cards to categories which I suppose is automatic in Anki and manual in Pleco, but obviously that's the same for all cards no matter if it's a sentence or a word.
