Application Process :

- I applied to the cultural service attached to the Chinese ambassy around the end of March 2008 . I had a call around the end of July , and applied for my VISA .

Course and Funding :

- I studied International trade between 2009 and 2013 , and a year Mandarin from 2008 to 2009 . I had a scholarship .

Arrival and registration :

- I travelled by myself and there was nobody scheduled to wait for me in Beijing , so it was a little bit stressful for me . I arrived to the University at around 1 AM , but my room was ready , and the check in only took a couple of minutes . The next day , i went to the overseas students office to register and it also only took a couple of minutes , but i spent around 15 minutes chatting to teachers and other students .

- A few days later , a medical as well as a VISA regulation trip were scheduled , and it also didn't take long , maybe about a couple of hours ( Bus ride time included ) , but it was nice to get to know the othe students and make friends .

Accommodation :

- I had a single room , with my own bathroom and shower . The room was pretty small though and hot water was only available between 8 and 10 PM which wasn't very convenient .

- There was a kitchen in each floor with a big fridge to share , but most students had their own .

- Laundry room was in the first floor as well as a restaurant with buffet , and there was a cafeteria in the second .

Classes, Classrooms and Teachers :

- My major was Trade , so i had classes in relation to economics , statistics , marketing , finance , Import - export , ..... However , i had to complete 120 credits in order to graduate , and trade related courses aren;t enough for that , so i had to take additional courses in relation to Math , Sports , Philosophy and marxism , computer science ....

- The classrooms were ordinary , clean with a normal set up . The teachers were nice and helpful , we actually went out a few times for dinner and drinks , an afternoon at the park or ...... KTV ! Haha .

- All my homework were projects we had to prepare , presentations and such . We didn't have to do them , they were optional , but since the major was taught in Mandarin , it was vital to get those extra points . I can't stress enough how important it is to impress your teachers with hardwork and a willingless to learn and succeed . Exams are pretty hard ( Since it's in Mandarin ) and you can get bonuses if you work hard during the semester to even out your overall scores .

Campus and Environment :

- NENU has two campuses , one in the city center and one outside the city . I was living in the one in the city center , but my classes were in the other one , but the University has shuttle buses that make the trips between both campuses each hour .

- Chinese campuses are amazing !!! Everything is available on campus , canteens , restaurants , super markets , sport shops , banks and ATM's , phone and computer workshops , bathhouses , bookstores , post office , telecomunication companies , alcohol and icecream bars by the lake , Football , Basketball , Tennis , Badminton and Volleyball courts , a skatepark , there was a swimming pool ( up until last year ) , a stadium and of course ...... KTV !!! ^ ^

- Chinese students ( And people in general ) are among the best i've ever met , they are super friendly , fun and helpful . They are also very curious about foreign cultures , so they are easy to approach ( If they don't approach you first ) and will gladely spend time with you . Whenever you ask to join a sports game , a dance , a table for a drink .... You'll be met with a wide smile and a " Of Coooarrrsssse " ! ^^

Cost of Living and Budgeting :

- This one depends on you really , you can live with 1500 元 a month , as much as you can struggle with 4000 . I spent about 2000 a month , i was cooking 90 % of my meals , going out with friends 2 to 3 times a week , had a gym membership , took buses and trams , .....

- The cost will vary from a city to another . While in Changchun you can eat out and drink at a nice place for less than 100 yuan , it may not be the case in Beijing or Shanghai . Overall , the cost of living in China is pretty affordable , as long as you know how to manage your money .

Good luck ! :)

Well, I'm going to apply for the 1 year scholarship and the partner university of my Confucious Institute is this one. I'm not really excited about this and I don't see almost any comments. Someone has gone here before? Should I try applying for other one in Beiijing or Shanghai?
