There are a few nightclubs worth checking out (one called La Bomba, near the Marco Polo hotel). You'll find a bunch of nice pubs and restaurants, good KTVs (it you want western music I only know of 康康柳丁). Xiamen is getting better all the time, so there is no need to avoid it because of lack of nightlife. But of course it's not as good and abudant as nightlife in Shanghai or some other place.
