Getting a Chinese Sim card

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am going to need to get a Chinese Sim card to fit into my NZ Vodafone mobile for 5 months. Can anyone recomend what phone company to go with. All I will want it for is local calls and to text/sms New Zealand. I'm thinking prepay will be the way to go, but as I dont speak Chinese I am worried about how I am going to keep recharging my phone.

Any suggestions as always appreciated!

You're best bet is to find someone who can speak English and Chinese to help you... If you do this, make sure that the simcard will work anywhere in China, and not just in your city. I would go with China Mobile, just because they're the biggest carrier in China (I think).

There're many little shops in the street sale the card, you don't need prepay at all.

Just decide which denomination you need,50RMB or 100RMB.

Let me tell you:

At first, you need a Number Card(includeing a sim in it),it gives you a number just like 139103XXXX1,in many cities ,it's free or 5-10RMB.

Then,you need a recharging card,you can choose 50RMB or 100RMB.
