Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, please help me. When I go to

www.baidu.com with IE browser,

it will looks like this:

pic1.jpg

and when I encode that to Chinese Traditional (BIG 5) it will looks like this:

pic2.jpg

but the chinese characters there don't have a meaning...

If I use Firefox browser, it will display the right one, like this:

Please help me how to fix my IE browser... thanks

I'm confused. When you say they don't mean anything, do you mean "they come up in traditional characters"? If so, then that's to be expected when you force the page to use a traditional character encoding.

Try picking GB2312 (Chinese Simplified) and if it isn't picking the right encoding automatically, which appears to be the case, turn on "Auto-Select".

  • 2 weeks later...

So what happened when you set the encoding to GB2312 (Chinese Simplified)?

As Baidu's webpage is written in simplified characters, the encoding for traditional characters will always result in scrambled text (try setting the encoding to Chinese Traditional in Firefox, you'll get the same result)
