(Does the princess love the gardener?) I think 公主愛花匠? should mean the same thing. So what's the purpose of adding 上了 after verb 愛? Do they alter/add meaning to the verb? When should we add 上了 after a verb? When should we not? I consult my Schaum's Chinese Grammar book but still don't find an answer. Any help is highly appreciated. Thank you in advance. It gives the example of 她愛上了司機的工作 - "she has come to love her job as a driver." So in this case, I suppose we could translate the question as "Has the princess fallen in love with the gardener?"
