Visa Prices in Hong Kong

Does your passport really cross the border though? They might get it at those counters just before immigration (which I had to do once myself when my interpretation of the double entry visa differed from that of the immigration officials.)

but you can easily extend the F visa within mainland China (while you are still inside mainland China) for 960RMB,

That's the cheapest I've heard - who does it for that price? I guess pazu must have used them...

Re one year F visas:

For the one year multiple visa each stay not more than 30 days (Applications only available Monday to fridays only, Sat. Sun & p.holidays cloased).

For one year visa will require name cards with overseas contact and applicant must have applied* for a multiple entry China Visa before OR

2 seperate "F" type business single or double entry China visas.

* presumably this means 'successfully applied'...

They did say this:

"The difference between UK & EU passports as there are reciprocal surcharge of UK passports."

Not sure exactly what they mean - presumably different countries all have different visa fees. Perhaps the UK has special high fees specifically for Chinese citizens...

Pretty much. Apparently we started going through visa applications much more carefully after some of the people who died at Morecambe Bay were found to have entered the country on student visas, and the costs were passed on via higher visa fees, and the Chinese returned the favor. Not sure if that's exactly what happened, but seems plausible.
