Using this info to make travel plans- would like to wait till summer vacation is over if possible, hoping some destinations will be slightly less crowded then. Thanks!!! However For the week of October 1st - October 7 th is usually the national week holiday. (The official holiday is only 3 days I think but most take a week break. Some people work over time before or after to take an extra week off before or after. So traveling around this time could be a problem as well. Most of China is hot in the summer so Spring and Fall are often common travel times. So Avoid the last week of September and the first two weeks of October and it should be ok. Also in the north they often don't turn on the central heating until late November or December. (South of the yangtze we get to make do with airconditioner heaters that can be used at any time).
