Has anyoone studied in nanning?

Hi I am thinking about coming to China to study Mandarin however I can not decide whether go to Guilin or Nanning. I heard that both cities are very beautiful however I am worried about local dialects. I want to avoid situation of studying Mandarin in a place where everyone speak thier dialect. Thanks for help. I have studied in neither, but I have lived for about 10 years half way between the two. Nanning does have a higher proportion of Cantonese and Zhuang speakers, but it is the capital of the province and many people speak putonghua.

Guilin is a much smaller and much more touristy city. It does have it's own Guiliuhua dialect, but most people speak standard.

Anyway, what is wrong with learning standard with additional variations.

Of course, if you were sensible you would come to Liuzhou and get the best of both worlds!

hi liuzhou. i believe we will be neighbors. i recently returned from liuzhou where i have finally married the woman of my dreams. she lives there and we both want live there full time in few years. we spent our time between there and san jiang. for now i guess i will be come liuzhou twice a year, and she will be come america for few years. we are about start look to buy apartment there. write me if you wish
