Chinese Learner Posted August 27, 2007 at 11:12 PM Report Share Posted August 27, 2007 at 11:12 PM Hi I know that this has probably been asked countless times but I've been searching the forum and can't find the answer yet. I've started to compile vocab lists (on ZDT) but can't seem to find anything either software based or internet based that allows me to enter the pinyin or character and then 'says' the word aloud so I can hear how it is pronounced and copy the pronounciation. I understand that ZDT has sound plug-ins but that only a few sounds have been recorded so far. Also i am running a Mac, I'm not sure the plug-ins are for Mac. I am also under the impression that Wenlin has some sort of sound function. - Does it 'say' every single word in its dictionary? Thank you! gato Posted August 28, 2007 at 02:30 AM Report Share Posted August 28, 2007 at 02:30 AM You can try PlecoDict, which is available for Palm and PocketPC. A beta version of version 2.0 probably will be released before the end of September. http://pleco.com/pdpreview.html The finished release of Pleco 2.0 is expected to be out sometime in 2007. Speech capabilities: we've recorded samples for about 30,000 words from each of two speakers (male and female), and we're planning to integrate speech into our software in a number of ways (including several new flashcard testing modes). atitarev Posted August 28, 2007 at 08:12 PM Report Share Posted August 28, 2007 at 08:12 PM I use this great dictionary on my Pocket PC. It has some little bugs and I don't like some entries but it's very good.
