Hello,

Please check my new Wikipedia article with a List of Chinese exonyms for places in Russia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Chinese_exonyms_for_places_in_Russia

It is better formatted than my previous page with a List of Chinese exonyms for places in Japan

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Chinese_exonyms_for_places_in_Japan.

If you spot an incorrect transliteration or character used, please let me know. You don't need to know Russian but if you wonder, the English transliteration chosen was more phonetic, especially the use of ' (apostrophe) for letter "ь".

I am also looking for someone to publish a copy in the Chinese Wikipedia. :help

I made a few nice changes to the page.

1. This page contains only one table at the moment but I made it a separate section, more small tables to come.

2. Added links for each city/town in the English column.

3. Categorised and added see also links.

To do - comments on transliteration.

Add region (oblast') names where they are different from the centre (e.g. Yekaterinburg - Sverdlov), autonomous republics - Tatarstan, Chuvashia, etc.

Update:

Added Russian Autonomous Republics (自治共和国) to the list.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Chinese_exonyms_for_places_in_Russia#Autonomous_Republics_of_Russia_.28short_names.29

哈卡斯 (Hākǎsī) Khakassia Хакасия

楚瓦什 (Chuwǎshén) Chuvashia Чувашия

I hope I got the endings right. 雅库特 stands for Yakut (language, nationality) and Yakutia (location) but I am not sure it's always like that. My page shows short names, not the full official names to show how names are transliterated.
