Technically, it doesn't say Daniel. It says Dan ni er, and doesn't make any real sense in Chinese. Have a read of this post to understand why. Anyway, there is no word for "Daniel" in Chinese. All you have is a bunch of characters that sound approximately like Daniel. Imagine in English you have the words Day, Knee, and All. When you put them all together you have DayKneeAll which sounds a bit like Daniel. That's essentially what you've done with the Chinese characters.

Oh right I get it. Well the guy is an 8th Chinese and when he saw it he said it was right as he's known how to spell his name in Chinese since he was 4, but when he showed it to his gran (who is Chinese) she could not understand it. Now I see why, thankyou.
