Meng Lelan Posted September 7, 2008 at 11:28 PM Report Share Posted September 7, 2008 at 11:28 PM I have a class of six adult beginners of Mandarin and we want to perform a short skit at the end of the semester. Are there any skits for a class like this? Thanks.
character Posted September 8, 2008 at 09:10 AM Report Share Posted September 8, 2008 at 09:10 AM The book "Mandarin Chinese The Easy Way" has dialogs which could be used as skits.
Meng Lelan Posted September 8, 2008 at 10:41 AM Author Report Share Posted September 8, 2008 at 10:41 AM Thanks - I was looking more like something that's amusing and provides some entertainment for those end of the year performances that the whole school puts on. character Posted September 8, 2008 at 12:28 PM Report Share Posted September 8, 2008 at 12:28 PM I'm sure dialogs in other texts could be adapted for skits too.
renzhe Posted September 8, 2008 at 12:29 PM Report Share Posted September 8, 2008 at 12:29 PM I've seen some skits on CCTV's Spring Festival gala, you could try to find one of those and adapt it. Some of them are dependent on dialects and cultural references, though. Others might be easier to stage.
dougm24 Posted September 8, 2008 at 04:17 PM Report Share Posted September 8, 2008 at 04:17 PM Why not try to get them to write their own skits? We did skits in our first 10 weeks of learning Chinese and even with a limited vocabulary, you can create some funny dialogues - especially with people who are familiar with each other. Meng Lelan Posted September 8, 2008 at 09:34 PM Author Report Share Posted September 8, 2008 at 09:34 PM dougm24, That is a very good idea! Did you all really come up with skits in chinese during the first 10weeks and what ideas did you all use? That has got to be pretty challenging --- still, I might try that with my class! jas-abc Posted June 15, 2009 at 02:42 AM Report Share Posted June 15, 2009 at 02:42 AM Hi, i just saw your post, i wonder how your performance went. I taught Chinese as a Second language in Beijing, and i was very amused by the students' performance during the end of a summer school(eight weeks or so). They made fun of the long list of characers they had to memorize each day, the girl who were late most often, the canteen they often dined at(including their favorite dishes), the apartment-break to bars, bargaining with unregistered taxis, etc, etc. It was very funny and i was so proud of them! Meng Lelan Posted June 15, 2009 at 02:58 AM Author Report Share Posted June 15, 2009 at 02:58 AM Funny! I wish you would post that on youtube so I can have a good laugh. Let's see, my class has performed two skits so far. One was a skit called "Writing Chinese is Really Easy" based on a story about a student who learns to write the numbers one, two, three...then one thousand. The other skit was based on an idiom 杯弓蛇影. Sorry, no youtube video of those two...
