Dictionaries, Databases, and Linux

I have the CEDICT, in several fashions, most of them connected with OpenOffice.

I would like to set it up on a Database, so that I could connect to it using MySQL.

OpenOffice has a method of connecting to MySQL, but unfortunately it won't handle Chiniese characters, just leaves them as Question marks. They have several settings allowed for font systems in the Database section, but unlike the rest of OpenOffice, none of them are Chinese.

I am using Linux, Mandrake 10., working with KDE. Doies anyone here know of a method I could use to work with both Chinese Characters and MySQL?

Thanks very much.

Jim
