If you observe carefully enough, this way of expression is quite common. Take some common or unrelated things to make them imply some good wishes.

Foreigners might not understand what it says, but it is easy to explain in an example. For example, bats symbolize good fortune in traditional Chinese customs, for 蝠(bat) and 福(good fortune) in Chinese are homophonic. Below is a photo to tell what is 五福(蝠)临门five kinds of good fortunes are reaching your door.
