The first looks like 啟元堂製 (made by Qiyuan Tang) to me.

Let me tell you exactly

First is :启元堂制

It means:mady by Qiyuan Tang.

堂：It means living room.Because in old Chinese,there's no supermarket or hospital.people always do business in their living room.Chinese character "堂" means living room.and then,people call the common business "shop",but their call the hospital or drugstore "堂".Now,"堂" means medicine drugstore.and usually "堂" means a very old drugstor or a very big drugstor.For example:“同仁堂”

启元：It's the name of this drugstore,It means open a new ear.

Second is:喜上眉梢

It means be radiant with joy

But do you know what's it mean exactly.

look at this:

there's somebody who is very happy.

Let's look at his eyebrow.

we'll find that the ends of his eyebrows is up-turned.

so we said someone is very happy.

we said that happy is up the ends of his eyebrows：喜上眉梢。

is it interesting?!~@

thanks, that is a most unusual mark and again not in any books covered in late 19th early 20thc porcelain.

thanks for the reply william, but i think you are confused with how 堂 is used in porcelain marks,

堂 is usually means hall or potters studio -

such as

Shen De Tang Zhi - Made for the Hall of Discreet Virtue

i doubt taking into account the piece invloved it means a 'drugstore'

I've told you that 堂 is a very old drugstore or a very big drugstore.

but if there's a very old shop,we can call it:堂.

If some shop is "堂"

it might be:

1,It's older than People's Republic of China.

2,It's very very bit.

3,There' special history that other's can't pattern.

启元堂is a old big drugstore,It's age is older than PRC.

慎德堂is a old china store.It's age is older than PRC too.

but usually 堂 means a drugstore,certainly it's not absolutely
