Here we could talk about stuff like: Translation issues (e.g. equivalence, cohesion, coherence, intertextuality, etc) Machine translation and Computer-assisted translation (CAT) Subtitling Interpreting Ethics and professional issues Project management Translation Studies Chinese Translation Theory Translating & interpreting courses all over the world We could even include linguistics, sociology, history and other theory-oriented discussions as well. ...anything else! (this is a very small list of possible topic ideas!) Why do we need this? Well I think it would attract more professional translators to the forum membership, as well as give us a place to discuss specific translation issues (as opposed to language ones). As a translation studies student myself I know there's a huge list of possible topics swimming around in my head. Anyway, let me know what you all think. I tend to try to go for consistency in feel and meaning as opposed to a scientific approach to translations so I would find that the possibility of this sub-forum would be a cool place to discuss those things.
