westmeadboy Posted July 27, 2009 at 11:50 PM Report Share Posted July 27, 2009 at 11:50 PM I got hold of this audiobook the other day and have been listening to it. The quality seems excellent for learning chinese because its clear and fairly slow. Where can I get hold of a transcript?
roddy Posted July 27, 2009 at 11:58 PM Report Share Posted July 27, 2009 at 11:58 PM Wouldn't a transcript of the audiobook be . . the book? It's online here (you can find most Chinese books just by searching for the title). There may be differences with the audiobook, but if so it's still surely as close as you're going to get. westmeadboy Posted July 28, 2009 at 12:12 AM Author Report Share Posted July 28, 2009 at 12:12 AM Thanks for that link. I did wonder about how similar the book would be. I even checked the wikipedia entry for audiobook: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audiobook My next challenge (since I can't read Hanzi) is to convert the e-book to pinyin. So I'm off to find a good converter... Then I should be able to see how close the e-book is to the audiobook.
westmeadboy Posted July 28, 2009 at 12:53 AM Author Report Share Posted July 28, 2009 at 12:53 AM FWIW I used http://www.purpleculture.net/Chinese-Character-Pinyin-Converter-Online.asp to convert the first few paras... OK, they seem to be completely different. Any other ideas? I suppose I could try to transcribe a sentence and then search on that...
roddy Posted July 28, 2009 at 03:14 AM Report Share Posted July 28, 2009 at 03:14 AM Where'd you get hold of it? If we can listen to it we can maybe figure out how different it is.
westmeadboy Posted July 28, 2009 at 08:26 AM Author Report Share Posted July 28, 2009 at 08:26 AM I just googled for it and found this: http://www.verycd.com/topics/2722345 and I guess that's the same as the one I'm listening to - which of course is a perfectly legal copy
