No, it's not a talkshow about serious stuff..far from that in fact. I choose this particular episode 'cause the topic is relatively simple and it offers real life talking rather than scripted talking. I find it easy to follow but the number of 'small words' shows how detailed mandarin can be. I've taken out most of the 'small words'/phrases I came across during the show. But I'll list them in order of most useful to least useful below. Diffiiculty ranking: Lower intermediate (Taiwanese accent, trad. subtitles) 女士優先 - ladies first 羨慕 - to be envious/jealous / 嫉妒 求職 - applying for a job 儘量完 - play hard ( as in play hard work hard) 繁文縟節 - unnecessary and over-elaborated / 太誇張 八股 - cliched/ typical/ stereotype 藐視 - to look down upon/ to discriminate 融入 - to blend in/to integrate 樣跑 - something like 差不多一樣 but I can't confirm this 體系 - system as in 系統 遵循 - to abide by the rules 深造 - to do further studies as in to do a Masters or PHd 稍微 - a little as in 一點 補托福 - the TOEFL english test 一併 - altogether/一起 訣竅 - method / 方式/ the tricks of the trade 一套 - a set of something (系列？） 應對 - how to appropriately respond 啟發 - to enlighten 額外 - additional 先進 - advanced 一缸 - a jug? 禮儀 - protocol 順序 - a sequence/order of some sort 抹 - to apply/ to hide something by masking appearence? 內側 - the inner area 姿勢 - posture / mannerism? 繞 - to move around in a circle? 墨洋水 - to be trained/ well versed in the ways of the west ?? not entirely sure about this 採櫻桃 - to pluck cherries 悠哉 - havent checked this one yet 節奏 - havent checked this one yet 泡麵 - just means noodles, wonder what the 泡 means 綜一規格 - to fill up a form?
