    • No, 14 golds aren't that many, let's just give them to Japan.

There were a total of 14 golds given to Judo athletes in the olympics, 8 of which went to Japan. When China won all the weight lifting golds in the previous olympics, the olympics committee set a new limit on the total number of competitions each country can participate in to 4, so no country can win more than 4 golds in weight lifting. When China won all table tennis golds, the olympics committee changed the rules from 21-point games to 11-point games to "increase the role of chance " so weaker countries would have a shot. When Fu Mingxia won the diving gold medal at age 12, the olympics committee increased the age limit to 14 to prevent China from getting those golds.

Next to swimming and track and fields, I believe Judo is the 3rd most "golden" olympics "CATEGORY". 14 golds given to judo? isn't that a bit too many? When 8 of Japan's 12 golds came from Judo, isn't it time for the olympics committee to do something about it? Even weightlifting only offers 10 golds, and no country can win more than 4. Yet there's no limit on how many a country can win in Judo....... the Japanese invented Judo, and I've "heard" they donated handsomely to the committee.

PS: the 4 golds limit is for each gender, so both genders = 8 golds limit. I just found this out, but still no limit in Judo.

more restictions -- because China is too good in table tennis doubles, they will eliminate the doubles competitions in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Also players from the same country must now be put into the same group in the prelims, so they will face each other before the final round.

All of these new rules are to ensure China wont win as many golds in the future.

Quoting a complain:

Quest:

You must have forgotten the motto "Friendship first, Competition second".

Mao was so broad-minded to let the visiting bottom ranked US ping pong players to beat the excellent Chinese athletes, why can't China let some others to share the fun too in ping pong now?

Quest:

Even if China gives up some medals in ping pong, most likely they are picked up by South Korea, Chinese Taipei or Hong Kong.

Very unlikely they will be picked up by US, Australia or Russia which may affect China's Gold Medal standing.

For the sake of Good Neighbor policy, China should make some sacrifices. :clap
