Chinese music during ancient dinasties

Don't really know the answer to your question, but the following bit of information may of interest to you.

A couple of years ago in Taipei I went to a performance of Tang dance (and music). I am not into dance, but this was magnificent. Anyway, the show brochure said that a lot of information had been lost due to An Lushan's shenanigans(sp?), and the choreographer had to go to Japan to research stuff since they had materials from that time (in China) in their archives.

you could try this:

In ancient chinese, the music was the very important thing to the state, which was treated a method to purge human being's spirit. I think the

rock&roll or RAP could make them crazy. [/u]

谢谢!

Do you know if there are some connection between these musical traditions and any philosophical thought? I've read that there are a deep relation between painting (/writting) and philosophy (Lao Zi...). There are similarities with the ancient Chinese music?

Another: does not Rock act as the Four Heavenly Kings?
