johndones Posted April 15, 2010 at 02:57 PM Report Share Posted April 15, 2010 at 02:57 PM You mean if "你去买东西不去" would imply an angry attitude? If there is stress on 不去 then it would sound a little angry, to me it would carry the same meaning as 你到底去不去, but I guess it's very subjective, especially that after all it's not very common, so I guess everyone would have a different feeling. renzhe Posted April 15, 2010 at 03:08 PM Report Share Posted April 15, 2010 at 03:08 PM "你去买东西不去" implies that the person SHOULD do something, but is reluctant. You're urging them to do it.
Shi Tong Posted April 19, 2010 at 12:03 PM Author Report Share Posted April 19, 2010 at 12:03 PM Precisely my point renzhe, and thanks for conveying that so clearly. To me, it's like saying "are you going or not?" rather than "are you going to.. blah blah".
