This downloadable Windows application combines rules-based techniques with statistical machine translation. It lets you add words and phrases, works offline when you don't have an Internet connection, and taps into the Google translation service to improve translation quality when you're online. This gives you: * total control over your own translations * really good default translations of proper nouns, dates, etc. * your own private dictionary for adding words and phrases The software is intended for independent translators who like to use machine translation systems for reference, but also need the ability to specify exact translations for specific words and phrases. It should be useful to anyone doing casual translation though. Feedback (including bug reports) is very welcome at service@popupchinese.com.
