Is the sentence 他不喜歡是隻身還是他必。a grammatically correct one? What I was originally trying to say is "He doesn't like to be alone, but he must."

No...I don't really think it's correct. I sort of had trouble understanding the Chinese until I read the English. I think you can re-word it like: 他不喜欢孤独，但他别无选择。(something like: He doesn't like to be alone/lonely, but he's got no other choice).

A more colloquial version would be 他不喜欢一个人，但是没办法. Though, it could possibly mean that he dislikes someone, but has no other choice, with the context, the meaning is clear.
