Taking a Dog to the U.S.A.: Is there a quarantine?

A few months ago I found a little abandoned puppy under a restaurant table, and, well, she has grown on me as much as I have grown on her.

So, I am taking her back with her. From this end, its no big deal.

We need to be vaccinated (and stamped at a large hospital (the book not the dog)), get a health inspection 10 days before we leave and get this inspection certified.

Now, what I am concerned about is... what happens when we arrive in LAX? I know she will be inspected (and if sound sick, then there are obviously consequences), but is there a mandatory quarantine? I have found no information about this, and my friend has called every number at LAX and not gotten through to quarantine.

Does anybody know anything about this?
