jvaran Posted November 12, 2004 at 01:09 AM Report Share Posted November 12, 2004 at 01:09 AM I'm looking for information on any battles that may have been fought in or near Hangu Pass, in the timespan of approximately 600 - 750 AD. I'm guessing possibly the battles between the Sui and the Turks, or perhaps the various battles during the rise of the T'ang. But does anyone know if any of these were in/near the Hangu Pass? Thanks in advance!
bhchao Posted November 12, 2004 at 04:52 AM Report Share Posted November 12, 2004 at 04:52 AM There were no battles fought in or near Hangu Pass from 600-750AD. I could be wrong, but I am quite sure that no battles took place in this Pass during that time period. Li Yuan, the first emperor of the Tang, fought against the Turks at Yanmenguan Pass instead of Hangu Pass when Sui was collapsing.
Ian_Lee Posted November 15, 2004 at 07:22 PM Report Share Posted November 15, 2004 at 07:22 PM The most decisive battle fought between Tang and the Arabs was at the bank of Tatas River in present day Kazakhstan in A.D. 751.
