思考题 Posted February 7, 2011 at 07:57 AM Author Report Share Posted February 7, 2011 at 07:57 AM Thank you andelicek.andy, skylee and aristotle1990 for your comments, In response to some you your inquiries I have posted the origins of the folk songs. 1. 西藏高原 – The Tibetan people - 藏族 (Located in Tibet) 2. 青春舞曲 – The Wéiwú'ěr people - 维吾尔族 （Located in Xinjiang） 3. 在那遥远的地方 – The Hāsàkè people - 哈萨克族 (Spread through Xinjiang, Gansu and Qinghai provinces) 4. 辣妹子 – Unconfirmed 湘西汉、土家、苗 (Central China) 5. 阿拉木汗 – The Wéiwú'ěr people - 维吾尔族（Located in Xinjiang） 6. 掀起了你的盖头来 – The Wūzībiékè people乌孜别克族（Located in Xinjiang） 7. 鸿雁 –The Mongolian people - 蒙古族 (Located in Inner Mongolia) 8. 洪湖水浪打浪 – Unconfirmed - 湖北民歌 (Central China) Strictly speaking Song 1 西藏高原, Song 4 辣妹子 and Song 8. 洪湖水浪打浪 are not folk songs, although they are commonly referred to as folk songs. For an interesting article (in Chinese) by a Chinese music expert on what constitutes a folk song and what does not click HERE. The above songs include at the very least 5 different minorities that are located predominately in Tibet and Xinjiang. I have already posted by far China’s most famous folk song: Jasmine, which originates from the Han people in Jiangsu province. I did not post it again for fear of repetition. The Peoples Republic of China recognises 56 ethnic groups, of which the Han is by far the most common with over 90% of China’s population. To not consider a song ‘Chinese’ because it is not of Han origin by definition is incorrect. Chinese culture abounds with contributions from minority ethnic groups, for example the qipao（旗袍– the quintessential ‘Chinese’ dress）originates from the Man people (满族) as does the ‘bald head with long pony tail’ hair style for guys (金钱鼠尾); the world famous ‘Peacock Dace’ (孔雀舞蹈) originates from the Dai people (傣族).
