Linguistic differences between Taiwan and China

because I happen to be the last one who finishes the exam every single time

Why is that relevant? Or why does it matter at all? If you take a 3-hour exam, I think it is all right (and you right) to stay till the 180th minute. Actually if it is a very important exam I think it is wise to do so. When I was a student most people usually stayed till the end of the exam. But things may have changed.

The tests are mostly for two hours at my university。Before I used to have 15 minutes at the end to review my answers but now I finish writing exactly when the time is almost up. Maybe I should learn some kind of cursive writing for 繁體字?

If you're at a point where you're taking 2 hour tests, you're being crippled if you're not writing 行書. Save 草書 for notes among your 草書-literate circle; I wouldn't count on your profs being able to read it.
