The ideal font is (a) monospaced for all Latin characters, including pinyin with tones; ( b ) shows pinyin characters exactly like the regular Latin characters, only with their tones; ( c ) the pinyin tones are clearly visible and easy to tell apart from one another; and, of course, (d) the Chinese characters are of excellent readability, good for learning them, also monospaced, but with a substantially wider square than the Latin characters, well balanced, so that neither the Latin nor the Chinese seems too wasteful or too unreadable. The best font is such that a tab-separated wordlist (characters - tab - transcription - tab - translation) looks perfectly aligned. Thank you!
